Robert Schapire — AdaBoost co-creator, now at Microsoft Research NYC — presented his latest work at the UW–Madison SILO seminar. Titled Convex Analysis at Infinity: An Introduction to Astral Space, the work (with Miro Dudík and Matus Telgarsky) extends convex analysis to study optimization problems at infinity.
