Rhoda's tactile-sensor robot retrieves objects blindfolded, sensing texture and heat
DhruvBatra_ · x · 2026-10-15
Rhoda unveiled a new tactile sensor that feels pressure, texture, vibration, slip, and temperature—like human fingertips. With its cameras blindfolded, the robot could recognize and retrieve objects by touch alone. The team notes most robot policies learn without touch, even though it matters most when vision falls short (occlusion, contact), and showed DVA extends naturally to this modality.
