Goodfire's interpretability system EVEE reclassifies hearing-loss gene variant as likely pathogenic
fatihdin4en · x · 2026-10-15
Goodfire AI reports a concrete medical win for interpretability: in April, its EVEE system scored all 4.2M variants in ClinVar, the NIH's variant database. MEPE c.209212del scored particularly high, and after the team built a case, the variant was successfully reclassified as "likely pathogenic" — identified as a gene variant behind hearing loss.
About 2M variants in ClinVar remain of "uncertain" significance, and Goodfire believes interpretability can help resolve many more.
