Per the Los Angeles Times, Utah has become the first US state to allow an AI to prescribe medication without direct physician supervision, under an experimental program.
- The AI analyzes patients' faces to grade acne severity and can prescribe one of eight approved treatments, dispensed directly at the pharmacy
- The first 100 prescriptions will be reviewed by a doctor, with oversight gradually reduced to monthly checks of at least 10% of prescriptions
