Kai-Fu Lee launches 'AI Native' book: CEOs must personally lead AI transformation
kaifulee · x · 2026-10-15
Speaking at Bloomberg's New Economy Forum, Kai-Fu Lee argued that "AI transformation must begin from the top" and that CEOs must "take the bull by the horn." His metaphor: if you hired an IQ-300 PhD, would you put them in customer service? Companies should rethink where AI creates the most value, not just patch workflows. The claim anchors his new book AI Native: The Mandate to Transform Your Company, which argues that two years ago top AI agents could autonomously finish tasks taking a human expert 6 minutes, while today they can complete a full workday of the smartest humans in less than a coffee break, at a fraction of the cost. The book's thesis: when human thinking—the most expensive thing companies buy—becomes nearly free, organizations must redesign structure, unlock hidden knowledge, harness agentic AI, and redefine leadership.
