Hark's generated ambient backgrounds rethink what a personal agent UI should feel like
thealexbanks · x · 2026-10-15
Reviewer Alex Banks highlights the personal agent product Hark, whose dynamic ambient background sets it apart from other personal agent interfaces, creating a sense of "connectedness" that invites users to invest more time in the interface.
The quoted designer post explains the thinking: when designing Hark Pro, the team asked what material personal intelligence is made from. The interface started as solid colours, then evolved into using inputs about the user as prompts for blurry, moody generated images — "the material for AI was AI." Getting good results took many tweaks, and the output remains inconsistent in detail.
