HybridAgent: LLM agents that think in latent space and act through text
lupantech · x · 2026-10-15
A new paper, Hybrid Reasoning Agents (HybridAgent), argues LLM agents shouldn't have to spell out every reasoning step token by token. Humans ponder in silence and speak only when it matters—human language was never meant to limit machine thought.
Key ideas:
- Reason in latent space, act through text
- Two modes unified into one multi-turn flow with shared memory across turns
- Latent thoughts are fully readable, not a black box
- Any LLM can be turned into a HybridAgent
Paper, code, and models are released on Hugging Face and GitHub (work by Jiaru Zou and team).
