ComfyUI tip: crop-and-stitch inpainting avoids rerunning the whole image
Dave-C · reddit · 2026-10-14
The author shares a workflow for batch-editing many images with small changes: don't run the full image through the model repeatedly — use the AusBoss node pack's Crop for Inpaint and Stitch Inpaint to process only the masked region.
- Basic flow: Load Image → Image and Mask → Crop for Inpaint → img2img model (e.g. Qwen) → Stitch Inpaint → Save Image.
- Connect the crop node's "stitcher" output to the stitch node's "stitcher"; add VAE encode/decode if working with latents.
- Draw a mask in Comfy so the crop node knows what to cut out.
- Write prompts for the cropped area, not the whole image.
- Greatly shrinks the generated region depending on mask size, saving time and compute.
