Epic Games has released a preview of its fully rebuilt Epic Games Launcher with official Linux support for the first time, alongside Windows and macOS. Epic openly admits the client was built with AI-assisted development, joking that it decided to "vibe code" the launcher.
Benchmarks commissioned from independent firm Keywords Studios show the new launcher starts in 5.47s vs Steam's 10.07s (1.8x faster), switches to the library in 0.36s, loads the redesigned library 30x faster, and opens the Store 3x faster than Steam.
