Together and Stanford's HybridAgent thinks in latent space, cuts cost 3x and boosts performance 10.4%

Together AI and Stanford (with UIUC and Meta) released HybridAgent, an LLM agent that dynamically switches between latent reasoning and text-based interaction in a single generation.
- A lightweight HybridLink module maps last-layer hidden states back into embedding space, letting the agent enter latent mode for fast, inspectable inner thinking, then return to text mode for tool calls and monitoring.
- Results: +10.4% performance, 40% token reduction, 2x faster inference, 3x cost saving.
- MIT-licensed code, paper, and Hugging Face models/data released (authors include James Zou and Pan Lu).
