Open-Source gameprobe MCP Server Lets Claude Playtest the Games It Writes, With Deterministic Frozen Frames
neoguli_1234 · reddit · 2026-10-14
Tired of manually playtesting games written by Claude Code, a developer built gameprobe, an open-source (MIT) MCP server (npx -y gameprobe). Key design: the game freezes between tool calls and only advances when the agent steps it, so the agent can think as long as needed and every run replays deterministically; it reads game values directly (player.y, score) instead of guessing from screenshots.
In the demo, a separate agent that never saw the code found a planted bug (player falls through a thin floor only at 30 fps), and in a Unity scene diagnosed a double-counting coin by toggling a collider. Works with web games, Unity (dedicated package), and other Windows games via a cruder screen-based mode. Repo: github.com/ahnminjae08043-glitch/gameprobe.
