Dev argues AI makes code worthless — distribution and iteration are the new moat
lxfater · x · 2026-10-14
Developer lxfater argues that with AI reverse-engineering and vibe coding, building an app, micro-SaaS, or fully functional tool now takes a day or two — code itself is no longer a moat. "Code isn't valuable anymore; what died is the era when writing code alone constituted a barrier."
What's scarce now, per him:
- Spotting a real, persistent problem;
- Embedding the product into workflows users already use;
- Distribution — getting the right people to know, trust, and try it first;
- Continuous iteration so users won't bother reverse-engineering you.
His conclusion: features are the cheapest thing in software's future; trust, channels, and continuous delivery matter most. The question every developer should ask: if someone copies all your features tomorrow, why would users stay?
