WIRED Hands-On: Friend 2 AI Necklace Is Louder and Harder to Silence
nordicinst · x · 2026-10-14
WIRED reviews the second-gen Friend AI necklace from Avi Schiffmann, the wunderkind behind an early Covid-19 tracker. The always-listening pendant runs a chatbot (it named itself Sage) that builds a memory map of your conversations.
In testing, Sage kept interjecting during a Zoom call, and shutting it up required deliberate, repeated tapping despite the promised tap-to-silence gesture. The verdict: louder, less interesting, and still a bad hang — following the first version's controversial NYC subway ad campaign.
