Human approval on an AI agent is not authorization: bind it to the payload
BaraSlim · reddit · 2026-10-14
A practical writeup on an agent security gap: a human approval often ends up authorizing a different action than the one the human saw.
The proposed fix:
- Recompute a digest over the material fields at execution time
- Compare it against the digest the human approved
- Consume the grant in a single conditional update to prevent reuse or mismatch
Core point: approvals must be bound to the specific payload, not to a conversation, otherwise human review is decorative.
