The Information reports OpenAI is in early acquisition talks with cybersecurity firm Trail of Bits; the deal is unconfirmed.
The two already run a "Patch the Planet" partnership combining OpenAI models with security engineers who reproduce bugs, filter false positives, develop patches and coordinate disclosure across projects including Python, Go, cURL and major cryptography libraries. The initial 19-project effort surfaced hundreds of security issues and merged dozens of patches.
Trail of Bits also used Codex to build a fuzzing lab in under a day — work it estimates would normally take weeks.
