Math Papers Pile On OpenAI's Quasi-Riemann Proof, One Declares 'No AI Used'
LucaAmb · x · 2026-10-14
Following OpenAI's publicly released proof of the Quasi-Riemann Hypothesis on October 6, number theory is seeing a chain reaction: an October 12 Hexagon preprint by Cureton and Thorner builds on it to show all finite-order Hecke L-functions are zero-free to the right of 1 - 1/6000. A new arXiv preprint by Frei, Somos and Widmer then uses that result to unconditionally prove the 2007 Ellenberg–Venkatesh bounds on ℓ-torsion in class groups of number fields. Amusingly, the second paper includes the declaration: "No artificial intelligence tools were used in this work." The poster quips: this does not look like a field being annihilated by AI.
