Maya Research released Maya-2, a fully open-weight voice AI model targeting India's 22 official languages with a voice-first thesis for 1.5 billion people.
- The team claims it beats ElevenLabs v3, Cartesia Sonic 3.5, and Bulbul v3 on Indian languages
- The attached VoiceArena TTS leaderboard (Hindi, real-time) shows Maya-2-Native at 1049 Elo, ranked 2-3 behind Cartesia Sonic-3.6 (1097) but ahead of Sonic-3.5 (1036) and Bulbul-V3 (959)
- It will be completely free for builders soon, per the announcement
