Data science author Hugo Bowne-Anderson called out a dark pattern in Claude's billing flow: trying to downgrade his subscription, clicking "Adjust plan" on the Max plan only surfaces paid options — Pro at $17/month and Max from $100/month — with no path to the free tier.
He shared step-by-step screenshots (Settings → Billing → Adjust plan) under the heading "Plans that grow with you," urging Anthropic to fix the downgrade flow.
