JevGPT: dual-system autonomous research agent matches rivals faster and cheaper
Yasheng Sun · hf · 2026-10-14
JevGPT is a dual-system architecture for autonomous research agents, targeting the gap between retrieval coverage and the evidence actually informing research decisions.
Design:
- System Two sets evidence objectives, integrates findings, and steers the research plan;
- System One locates sources, assesses relevance, and guides further inspection;
- Independent source judgments run in parallel, with selected original passages feeding the next research step.
Results: on fixed-corpus QA and document ranking, JevGPT achieves leading task performance with faster completion and lower cost than comparably effective research agents. Evidence analysis shows broader source inspection and higher coverage of supporting documents, suggesting efficient evidence processing as a route to more capable autonomous research.
