Benchmarks reward the wrong kind of intelligence, Reddit user argues
yi111 · reddit · 2026-10-14
A Reddit post argues that models can score extremely well on benchmarks yet remain frustrating in daily use, because real users care about clarification, context memory, handling messy input, admitting mistakes, and finishing tasks without creating new problems. The author still finds benchmarks useful for tracking progress but says they miss the full experience of relying on an AI system, and asks what real-world tests should be added to standard evaluations.
