Non-coder ships million-line game built with Codex and Claude, free Steam demo live
BestStorage6608 · reddit · 2026-10-14
A Reddit user who can't code spent nearly a year building a space strategy game entirely with Codex and Claude Code: 1M lines of code, 400K of it game code (about 40% comments), now with a free Steam demo and joining Next Fest on October 19.
Notable workflow details:
- Uses agents.md so Codex and Claude talk to each other
- After every commit, agents clean comments for false statements
- Built 100+ live editor panels for tuning every visual/audio parameter, on headless-runnable Godot
- Maxes out weekly token limits; the author handles only visuals, UI, story, balance and audio decisions
Progress was painfully slow early in the year but skyrocketed weekly as newer models landed.
