DeepMind Details Gemini 4 Argon's CoT Monitor That Intervenes When Reasoning Goes Off the Rails

Google DeepMind's Tulseedoshi revealed on MTS Live how safety shaped Gemini 4 Argon from the ground up. She said safety and alignment were "a core aspect of every single part of our decision-making," with guardrails at the input level, inside the model, and via runtime monitoring.
The headline feature is a chain-of-thought monitor: it watches the model's reasoning in real time, flags when it is about to go off the rails, and intervenes. She argues this protection gives the team confidence to ship the model today.
