DigUp: Open-Source Mac Search Tool Built on EmbeddingGemma 2 Finds Files by Meaning
xiaohu · x · 2026-10-14
DigUp is an open-source Mac menubar search tool built on Google DeepMind's multimodal embedding model EmbeddingGemma 2. It encodes text, images, audio, and video into a unified 768-dim vector space for local cross-modal semantic search.
Even if you forget filenames entirely, describing remembered scenes, sounds, or content (e.g. "a video with a zebra" or "a podcast about sleep") surfaces the file and jumps straight to the exact video timestamp, audio segment, PDF page, or code line — something Spotlight can't do.
