sift-light is a local search tool for AI agents. Between 1.1.0-1 and 1.1.1-7, the maintainer focused on a subtle failure mode: an agent cites a real file path and line number, yet draws a conclusion the source doesn't support — the file may have changed after retrieval, the passage may be related but not answer the question, or the answer hinges on an exception just outside the excerpt (e.g. "refunds within 30 days" followed by "gift cards excluded").

- Concept retrieval: an independent native text retrieval lane alongside exact search with bounded rank fusion — search by concept in natural language while keeping per-lane results inspectable.
- Multimodal retrieval: text→image, image→image, and scanned-PDF page search (including image-only and mixed PDFs) with original page numbers and previews; optional path requires Apple Silicon plus separately configured workers and models.
- Source freshness checks: retained results are bound to verified content identities, rechecked during source inspection and evidence validation; changed or missing files are reported explicitly so the agent must revisit its evidence.
