27-robot-deployment landscape mapped: 13 of 18 deployment-led startups founded since 2024

SE3 Labs mapped 27 robot deployment companies across a full-stack vs deployment-led split:
- Full-stack (9): building both hardware and intelligence — Figure, Agility Robotics, 1X, Dexterity, Ambi, Sanctuary AI, Sunday, Rhoda AI, Dyna Robotics; most predate 2024
- Deployment-led (18): focused on getting robots working on-site — laundry (Weave Robotics), factory operations (Formic, Foundry Robotics, Delft), warehouse picking (Ultra, InLoop), heavy machinery (Actor, Field AI, Physical Turing), data-center operations (Watney), and more
Key finding: 13 of the 18 deployment-led companies were founded in 2024 or later, coinciding with the arrival of open robot models (OpenVLA, π0 series). The startup playbook is shifting: start from a customer's specific job, compose the needed hardware and models, and improve through real-world use. An open question: will these deployment companies become training grounds for robot models themselves?
