Gemini 4 hands-on: good model, but tool calls still fail validation in real workflows
hrishioa · x · 2026-10-14
Developer hrishioa tested Gemini 4 and found it a good model that pairs well with Gemini Flash, but tool calling remains unreliable — screenshots show a paretopush call failing argument validation in a seismic catalog triage demo. His accompanying chart shows a 30-feature GBDT with 3.5% gated Gemini Flash review hitting 90.5% F1 at $0.29 per 1k events, versus $3.80 and lower F1 for zero-shot LLM. The more things change, the more tool-call reliability stays the same.
