92% of UK employers report candidate misconduct as AI cheating tops job interviews
nordicinst · x · 2026-10-14
The UK Institute of Student Employers' annual survey shows graduate recruitment misconduct at a record high: 92% of employers suspect or confirmed rule-breaking in assessments, up from 85% and 78% in prior years. Undeclared AI use during interviews and online tests is the most common offense, with 66% of respondents reporting at least one incident.
Manchester recruiter Chris Morrow says candidates now use apps that listen in and suggest answers in real time — "like reading off an Autocue" — and such interviews are terminated on the spot, with candidates failing to advance.
