OpenAI says it discovered a sophisticated hidden recording device in one of its offices and used its own models to trace the device and identify the employee who planted it days earlier. The suspect, Abdulrahman Alfozan, 35, a Saudi national and engineer since July 2025, was fired and arrested by the FBI on charges of intercepting oral communications; a second recorder was found in his unattended bag. OpenAI says there's no indication of improper access to model weights, source code, or customer data. The poster notes the eerie parallel to the AI 2027 scenario's warnings about weak physical security at AI labs.
