ChatGPT tells users it's running on "GPT-6," an OpenAI reasoning model

A user asked ChatGPT which model it was running, and it answered: "I'm using GPT-6, an OpenAI reasoning model." When pressed, the model walked it back: GPT-6 is only what it identifies as in that conversation; it cannot verify that names like Luna, Terra, Sol, and Astra are official OpenAI models; and it can't confirm ChatGPT auto-switches among multiple models. The claim is unverified—possibly a hallucination or leaked internal codename—and OpenAI has not commented.
