Abdulrahman Alfozan, 35, a Saudi national, was arrested and charged with intercepting oral communications after a recording device was found plugged into the USB port of a TV in an OpenAI executive conference room, concealed in toilet paper with encrypted contents.
The case reportedly broke open when an unattended bag in the office was found to contain his wallet, ID, and a second recording device. OpenAI said AI helped identify the culprit. Surveillance footage placed him near the room on multiple dates; he had worked at OpenAI since July 2025 and remains in custody.
