Peter Lee, president of Microsoft Science after 16+ years at the company, is joining the Mercedes Formula 1 team in a newly created AI advisor role, per Fortune — reportedly a one-year contract with an option for a second.
- Lee raced karts and Formula Ford as a kid and was once a licensed auto body technician.
- He sees cars as "a great laboratory" for AI agents since you actually finish something.
- At Mercedes he'll tackle physics problems, break down data silos, build predictive models, and advise on F1's AI governance.
