AWS partners on Anchor Browser + AgentCore payments so AI agents can pay for x402 APIs
AWS ML Blog · rss · 2026-10-14
AWS ML Blog details how Anchor Browser integrates with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments so AI agents can autonomously pay for x402-protected pages and APIs instead of stalling on HTTP 402 Payment Required responses.
The problem: agents hitting pay-per-request APIs, premium datasets, or paywalled content have no payment mechanism, forcing manual intervention. Building a payment stack in-house means handling four categories of complexity:
- Protocol handling: parsing 402 challenges, constructing payment headers with cryptographic proofs, supporting multiple schemes
- Key security: private keys inside agent runtimes exposed to untrusted web pages, with redirect-fraud risks
- Resilience: retrying with preserved session state, idempotency, infrastructure-level spend limits
- Observability: audit logs for every payment attempt, approval, denial, and settlement
The solution: Anchor Browser provides a managed cloud browser with persistent identity where payments happen in-session via a built-in x402 tool, requiring no changes to Playwright/Puppeteer workflows. AgentCore payments' Payment Manager connects to Coinbase CDP or Stripe Privy wallets, keeps credentials out of the agent runtime, enforces spending limits, and logs to CloudWatch. x402 is an open standard for HTTP-based machine-to-machine payments. Available now on AWS Marketplace.
