Claude Opus built a 200k-grain interactive sand demo from scratch — now open source
prasenx · x · 2026-10-14
Dev showcase sand-type: a giant word made of 200,000 grains of sand. Drag through it like a finger in a sand tray — grains pile into crumbly berms, quick flicks scatter fine grains, and once you stop every grain slides back until the word is perfect again, with a soft procedural brushing sound. Claude Opus 5.5 built it from scratch, sound included, using WebGL2 particle physics with React/Vite/TypeScript. The code is open on GitHub — 'it's open source, play with it yourself.'
