Anima: open-source Claude Code skill that generates interactive, cited biology figures
zealshama · reddit · 2026-10-14
A developer open-sourced Anima, an MIT-licensed Claude Code skill that turns natural-language biology requests into interactive visualizations rather than static images.
Workflow: the agent researches the mechanism, identifies relevant structures, builds isometric SVG geometry, implements interactivity, and verifies the result. The toolkit includes organic/molecular drawing primitives, an SVG renderer, optional WebGL/3D support, and biological geometry checks. Output is standalone HTML with no backend.
Examples: interactively comparing how cocaine and amphetamine affect dopamine transport, plus receptors, neuronal pathways, and GLP-1 signaling.
Rigor: a source-first workflow requires citations for numerical claims and documents uncertainty and simplifications — not a guarantee of scientific correctness. Built on Ryan's Anatomy toolkit with biology-specific extensions.
