Matthew Green: attacks are now AI-assisted, the question is who's launching them

Cryptographer Matthew Green debates Zeynep Tufekci on AI's role in cyberattacks. The exploited CVEs date to 2023 and the compromised fridge firmware used a date-based backdoor, but Green argues "not AI" is no longer a thing — models likely wrote the tooling and helped coordinate the mass launch. He adds: if it's an experienced Russian hacking team, this is just 2023; if an amateur who doesn't understand authentication bypass, that's something new.
