Sam Altman on OpenAI's $1.4T spending vs $13B revenue: 'short the stock' if we go public
GavinSBaker · x · 2026-10-14
When investor Brad Gerstner raised the question of how OpenAI's $13B revenue can support $1.4T in spending commitments, Sam Altman replied: "We are doing more revenue than that," and said that if OpenAI were public, he'd tell the loudest critics to short the stock.
Investor Gavin Baker added context: the $1T+ in unfunded Asian supply chain/semiconductor MOUs are distinct from the contractual commitments at Anthropic and OpenAI, which — hundreds of billions each — he argues are reasonable on an annualized basis.
