Effect ships zero-dependency native test runner, agent-first
samgoodwin89 · x · 2026-10-14
An Effect core developer announced the framework's native test runner achieved zero dependencies internally, with first-class effects, layers and scopes (no before/after hooks), running everywhere (node, bun, browser) and designed agent-first. A screenshot shows 30 example tests: virtual TestClock time, seed-reproducible randomness, TestConsole capture, in-memory fake Postgres contract tests, flaky retries, timeout inheritance, and Layer.fresh DI composition — with reproducible seeds on failures and timeouts.
