Gemini triggers SAFETY refusal mid-reverse-engineering, but finishes the dump first
banteg · x · 2026-10-14
banteg shared a funny moment using Gemini for firmware reverse engineering: while the model was disassembling memory dispatchers, the request got blocked with imagecontentpolicyviolation: SAFETY. He adds in a follow-up that Gemini had already dumped what he needed before refusing — he just had to recover it from the session transcript. The screenshot shows Gemini 4 Argon, 270K tokens and $4.47 spent on the session.
