On October 12 in Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and Fermi AI launched the NDLI-FERMI Learning Enabled AI Tutor inside India's National Digital Library, alongside a free GATE-JAM prep platform. The tutor uses a Socratic, guided approach with hints and questions leading students through reasoning; a 'Scan & Ask' feature lets students photograph problems in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Biology for interactive help. Beta access opened to registered NDLI users on September 30. Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar said AI should help young minds think, question, and discover solutions on their own.
