Thrixel raises $3M seed to build AI-agent-editable 3D assets, led by Sierra Ventures

Thrixel, founded by University of Chicago professor Rana Hanocka (MeshCNN, 3DL lab), raised a $3M inception round led by Sierra Ventures with MFV Partners, HarperC Ventures, Z5 Capital, Jon Barron and Matt Bilbey. Unlike typical generative 3D output as a single uneditable mesh, Thrixel generates assets from individually named parts in a logical hierarchy that agents can pick, assemble, and animate in Unity, Unreal, Roblox, or Three.js. It chains VLMs, agentic pipelines, diffusion, and optimization as modular steps, and ships Build World, where a coding agent writes logic while generating 3D content.
