Matthew Berman deploys an AI bot to waste a fake-OpenAI-employee scammer's time
MatthewBerman · x · 2026-10-14
LyalinDotCom exposed scammers posing as "OpenAI employees" in DMs, pushing fake Calendly links to steal credentials (the account was suspended). Matthew Berman got the same pitch and fought back with an AI bot: the prompt instructs it to recognize the scam, stay friendly and inquisitive, deflect requests to get on a call, and check for replies every 5 minutes. Screenshots show the bot stringing the scammer along while he dodges requests for GitHub links and benchmark screenshots.
