MagicOS launches with a contrarian bet: a persistent spatial canvas where the designer, not the agent, owns the canvas

MagicOS launched today with a contrarian bet on AI design tools. While most of the industry converged on giving the agent its own canvas and handing back outputs, MagicOS argues the canvas should belong to the designer, with the agent as collaborator — 'designers are NOT getting replaced.'
Most AI design tools are a linear conversation: prompt, generate, iterate. After a hundred prompts, the reasoning, rejected directions and inspiration are buried in a chat log nobody scrolls back through. MagicOS is instead a persistent spatial canvas where your PRD, inspiration images and design system live side by side for comparing visual ideas.
