DigUp: open-source Mac app brings 100% local semantic search via EmbeddingGemma
TheMoonMidas · x · 2026-10-14
The Google Gemma account spotlighted DigUp, an open-source macOS menu bar app powered by EmbeddingGemma 2 that brings 100% local, multimodal semantic search to the Mac.
Instead of searching file names like Spotlight, DigUp accepts natural language queries: find specific scenes in photos, jump to exact timestamps in audio or video, and search codebases by intent. Everything runs locally in a single vector space, keeping data on-device—a practical pick for privacy-conscious local-deployment fans.
