Valeo partners with KE:SAI to build fully open-source generalist autonomous driving
abursuc · x · 2026-10-14
Valeo and non-profit open science lab KE:SAI (co-founded by kyutai and the ELLIS Institute Tübingen) announced an open-science collaboration to build a fully reproducible, generalist AI driving system.
- The program aims to first match and then exceed state-of-the-art on major public driving benchmarks
- Every component — code, trained models, datasets — will be released open source, with findings shared via publications
- Suppliers and researchers can reproduce results, build on the model, and benchmark against a common reference
- Valeo Brain CEO Marc Vrecko called it a strategic milestone for the European automotive ecosystem; KE:SAI noted open source compressed years of LLM progress into months, while frontier physical AI remains largely closed
