Fields Medalist says OpenAI 'annihilated' his field by solving all 16 of his problems

Fields Medalist Hugo Duminil-Copin: "On Tuesday night, I cried, and it woke my daughter. [OpenAI] annihilated my field of research. They wanted to prove they could massacre us." All 16 problems he was working on are now claimed solved by OpenAI.
He warns some mathematicians may now keep research problems to themselves rather than share publicly — AI might actually make mathematics less open. Reposter Federico Tenga quips: "If you are sad when the problem you are working on gets solved, you shouldn't be working on it."
