Applied Materials: Agentic AI pods consume 2x-4x more wafers than Gen AI pods
BenBajarin · x · 2026-10-13
Ben Bajarin shared charts from an Applied Materials talk: an Agentic AI Factory Pod (2027) consumes 1,400-2,200 wafers vs 600 for a 2025 Gen AI pod — a 2x-4x jump across scale-up/out configurations based on NVIDIA GB200/VR200 SuperPODs. DRAM rises to 53-57% of device mix, advanced packaging to 12-16%, and >85% of pod content value sits in leading-edge foundry logic, DRAM and advanced packaging. Rack-scale shipments remain a tiny share of installed data center compute, implying a long growth runway.
