Fork-and-Flush: a simple trick to stop research agents from getting stuck in idea basins
DimitrisPapail · x · 2026-10-13
Dimitris Papail proposes Fork-and-Flush for autonomous research agents: periodically fork the agent into T copies in the same workspace with emptied context, let them run, then continue from the best one. It fixes the 'tunnel vision' where agent creativity decays hyperbolically over iterations — analogous to basin hopping in global optimization. Early adopters confirm it applies to their own death-looping research agents.
