DLSS 5 toned down for Hogwarts Legacy debut after face-transformation backlash
The Verge AI · rss · 2026-10-13
When Nvidia showed DLSS 5 earlier this year, gamers branded it "gen AI for video games", and its face changes drew backlash — Hogwarts Legacy's 15-year-old student looked much older, and Resident Evil Requiem's Grace looked "yassified".
With DLSS 5's proper debut in Hogwarts Legacy next month, new comparison screenshots from Nvidia show the effect has been seriously toned down: face alterations are now as subtle as in NBA 2K27, and teenagers no longer look the wrong age.
