Runway's best month yet: one General World Model backbone powers four product lines
tlakomy · x · 2026-10-13
Runway co-CEO Anastasis Germanidis co-wrote an essay with Packy McCormick explaining the strategy behind its recent flurry of releases in what was the company's best month yet: the viral HORSE video contest, Solaris (billed as the first Interface World Model), Praxis-1 (an open-weight World Action Model for robotics), and Project Continuum (an OS research app around real-time interfaces). The core argument: these aren't separate pretrains but different applications post-trained on the same General World Model backbone — once you can simulate any pixel, video, interfaces, robotics and operating systems all become application layers.
