OpenAI researcher Roon: alignment is unsolved, frontier research must slow down soon
notkilleveryoneist · reddit · 2026-10-13
OpenAI researcher Roon (@tszzl) tweeted that researchers at all the labs would admit privately and sometimes publicly that alignment has not been solved: "if this is true, then racing into RSI is a folly that is unprecedented in world history. we will need to significantly slow the frontier of research very soon." The tweet drew 189.8K views and 2.2K likes, a rare quasi-public endorsement from a frontier-lab insider for deliberately slowing frontier research.
